Rumors are strong that U2 is coming to Manila later this year. But what’s really certain to happen now is U23D’s showing at IMAX theater in SM Mall of Asia and SM D-Cinema at SM North Edsa. But if ever U2’s concert will push through, how much is U2’s Concert in Manila worth? How much are you willing to shell out to see Bono and the rest of the band perform live?
Twenty-two Grammy Awards since 1988, seven BRIT Awards where 5 are for Best International Group , 14 Meteor Awards from Ireland and more awards from AMA, MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, Q Awards, Juno, NME and Golden Globe awards plus being at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. The Rolling Stone Magazine also ranked them 22nd on their list of 100 greatest artists of all time. Those are awards and recognition that U2 really deserves. No one can argue about that.
Aside from the awards, for the record, U2’s concert tours in several areas of Europe, North America and other parts of the world are all sold out. The band has also sold more than 170 million albums worldwide.
There could be a lot of factors to consider on how they will put up the ticket prices for U2’s concert–part of which could be the talent fee, rent for the venue, the place where they will stay, the number of songs the band will do, the cost for getting in here, and many others.
If you come to think of it, probably most of U2’s followers come from Generation X and Y, or whatever you call those who where there from the time of U2’s formation and rise to stardom. These people are now professionals while some could have gone to early retirement. They are those who has the capacity to buy concert tickets in an instant or let’s just say they can get a good concert seat if they want to.
In previous concert tours of U2 abroad, there were cases that their concert tickets were auctioned. Some seats were priced at $150, $ 300 and up. Tickets were also auctioned at Ebay for $1000 for their show.
On the other hand, there were people in the Philippines who are willing to shell out 10 grands, Php 30 000 or more.
Considering that the Philippines is a developing country (still), it is surprising for some that there are people who are really willing to spend that much just to see their idols perform live. Anyway, it is very seldom they go here and perform live in front of their fans.
But for me, I will not be surprised if that’s how expensive their concert will be. Remember Beyonce’s concert in Manila where front seat SVIP tickets almost cost 20,000 pesos?
Considering that a lot of concerts were held and about to be held here, a general admission ticket to U2’s concert in Manila would be enough for me. By that time I probably have my own job but with lots of concerts and events happening in Manila, I’ll also try to work on my budget to accommodate and see those. It also depends on the venue. For me, Araneta will be better as compared to the open fields in Taguig but I guess the big dome can’t accommodate thousands of fans who wanna see them.
So for you, how much is their concert worth? How much are you willing to shell out to see and hear Bono and the rest of the band as they perform their hits live?

Hey, do you have domain blog with PR2, I have some offer for you. Reply back if you’re interested.
it’s U2 so it’s expected to really be expensive. Maybe if money won’t be as tight as this month, i’d be willing to pay P10-20k to see U2. but then, that’s just a “maybe”.

@Dyosa
If I have the money, I might get a good seat too. But being a student, I can’t afford that yet. U2 is U2..
i also expect a U2 concert will really be very expensive. if i will be able to save up, i’m willing to shell out P20K-P30K to be in front. i’m starting to save up for that, but if ever di ko maabot, kung ano na lang ang aabutin. i think mag-isa lang ako manonood because i would not be able to afford manglibre
kaya nga i’m wishing somebody here or from PEX will organize an EB for the concert.
@Mai_1
I hope I’ll be able to watch them too. Why not initiate the EB? Hehe…
you must be rich if ever you’re able to bring friends with you.
i really would love to watch them up close, but i think if you want to enjoy their concert, you should buy those tickets that would give you seats that are not too far yet not too close. u2’s concerts involve lots of special effects, lights, etc. so to appreciate and to really “experience” a u2 concert, i suggest we should buy those tickets for the middle seats:)
Normally, U2 concerts would have Gen. Admission tickets as “the standing only area” down at the floor.Like say if it was held in the Araneta Coliseum, the Patron, Ringside and Lower Box tickets would be the pricey seats, then the cheaper tickets would be the standing room which is the court itself, plus the Upper Box and the Gen. Admission. I wouldnt know though if it were The Fort open field.
We had a U2 concert two years ago and the prices were outrageous, still the place was full.
I suppose every person just have the choice to go to the concert even if it comes on the expense of something else or not.
I spent about P30,000 pesos just to see them Live in Sydney, it was worth it! It was a dream come true,dudes. I am willing to spend P30,000 again to watch them in Philippines.
i saw U2 in Chicago in the early 90’s..we have to pay 60 dollars and its all the way to the top..but was worth it..the EFFECTS they had was SPECTACULAR!!..fireworks and props
I am not sure how much ‘discount’ U2 would give to play Manila. All I know is after seeing them over 10 times, I would pay a LOT of money to see them.
I don’t live in the Philippines, but if they came to Manila, I may plan a trip to coincide when they are there. To see them in the Philippines would be exhilarating to say the very least.
To those have seen U23D, that is a pretty fair depiction of the Vertigo tour. Of course the charismatic feeling is more pervasive live.

Well it seems like the concert will not be happening this year. but I am willing to shell maybe 15,000 max. also not gnna be with ANYBODY. haha… the funny thing about U2 is.. not alot of Filipinos like their music. (more like doesn’t get much airtime)
but the few ones that like them… just adore them.
U2 is for the more sophisticated people. not for the masa. and that is the truth.

bigdome will be the best venue for u2
i saw their concert in london 14&15 of august u2 360 tour at wembley stadium the standing ticket cost me 65£ that about 5tausan in peso but the problem is there is no stadium in philippines that can accomodate 90 tausan fans which wembley stadium can..
Just watched U2-360 tour last night at Giant Stadium in Jersey…Paid $250.00 it was Magnifico!!! Big Dome would be too small maybe the Rizal football field would be better, just like in 94′ when Metallica performed in that venue to about 60,000 fans
im number # 1 fan of u2 since the band started/ i wish pumumta sila dito
