We all know that 2007 has been a great year to a lot of artists, producers and music enthusiasts. Now, as far as great songs and albums are concerned, 2008 will seem to be another year of great songs and albums.

So here are the albums to wait for this year:

1. Cassie’s album- still remember her hit song “Me & U” ? It actually ranked 4th during its first week in the Billboard charts last 2006, and went up to 3rd spot later on. Her first album did not do pretty well but this r&b and pop singer, and model is now coming back for her new album this year. FYI, Cassie appeared in Kanye West’s “Stronger” music video. I’m not sure if she’ll collaborate with Kanye or with other artists so let’s just wait for further announcements. (I didn’t even know that Cassie has a filipino blood. As a matter of fact, her father is a filipino. And actually, her first album was filipino ballads/OPM inspired)

2. Janet Jackson’s album (Discipline)- Janet Jackson will also be releasing her tenth studio album this year. Her recent album 20 Y.O., where the song “Call On Me” ft Nelly was included, got a platinum record, it wasn’t so much of a hit as compared to her previous albums. Will she make it this year? Let’s see. There are rumors that she’ll be working with Mariah Carey for this album.

3. Usher’s album- I know a lot of fans (including me) are waiting for Usher’s new album. It’s been a very long time since the release of the Confessions album so I think 2008 will be the best time to release his fifth album. Being married and now a dad, let’s see if there will be any changes in his songs or the way he perform. Usher is also planning to work with Michael Jackson.

4. Madonna’s album- this new album, which will be her 11th studio album, will be released by Warner Bros. Records. Madonna had a lot of best-selling albums, including her album “American Life” even if it was considered as lowest-selling album of her career (five million copies sold). Is Madonna’s commercial value fluctuating? I don’t think so but let’s see until her new album will be released this year as she will be collaborating with Akon, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake.

5. Vanessa Hudgens’ album-So who doesn’t know Vanessa Hudgens, one of the lead stars of Disney’s hit High School Musical? After her 1st album, she’ll come up with a new one this year. Let’s see if this one will be better than the first one considering that she’s more famous now and will also be coming up with the third installment of High School Musical.

More albums to watch out for:

There’ll be more albums to be released this year including those from U2, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Aerosmith, Greenday, Sheryll Crow, Nicole Scherzinger, Simple Plan and Metallica.
