Last night, everybody was talking about Farrah Fawcet’s death and I thought it was the big news everyone is talking about here in the office when I arrived this morning. But, I was wrong. I found out that Michael Jackson just died today (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009). I was expecting he’d be on tour this year but his sudden death makes it impossible.
I am shocked and in great disbelief when Lush Angel shared to us about it. I am not a big fan of Michael Jackson but I am a pretty big fan of some of his songs. I wasn’t able to witness him at the peak of his career but I grew up with his songs revived by other artists.
Jackson was sent to UCLA Medical Centre which is few minutes away from his place. There were reports of cardiac arrest as cause of Michael Jackson’s death, but he’s into deep coma when he was rushed in to the hospital.
Michael Jackson is behind HITS such as Ben, One Day in Your Life, She’s Out of My Life, Thriller, Wanna Be Startin Something, Beat It, Billie Jean, Human Nature, I Want You Back, I Will Be There, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, Black and White, Smooth Criminal, among others. No wonder after he’s one of the best-selling artists of his time until today, making him cited by RIAA for his 28x Platinum, best-selling “Thriller” album.
Supporters of Jackson have already started gathering when the news popped out. TV and radio stations are alloting airtime for the King of Pop. Even if it’s too far away from the US, manila-based radio stations have been playing Michael Jackson songs as tribute. He visited Manila and had a concert here way back December 8, 1996.
Despite of the financial turmoil, molestation charges and other issues and allegations he faced, Michael Jackson will forever be remembered for his contribution in world’s music scene. Good bye to the King of Pop!
