Mash-Up: Rocksteddy’s”Gising Na” and Quest’s “Back to Love”

For me, Rocksteddy and Quest’s mash-up could be one of the very interesting mash-ups for Coke Music Studio considering that they did a mash-up of an old and new song. And, I’m considering the fact that I find Quest’s “Back To Love” is fresh. The band’s music is very Filipino but it sounds close to Western music.

On the other hand, Rocksteddy’s “Gising Na” was their hit years back, if I am not mistaken about 4 years ago. In all fairness to this song, it doesn’t really sound old. There goes the saying, “Music never gets old, it’s only the people”.

Considering my initial thoughts about this mash-up, I am excited but think I am also more nervous than the artists about the outcome of this collaboration.

When I got to listen to the mash-up, the first part was a bomb. I never thought it will be that good. Blame it to the poor internet connection when I was watching the video. I just couldn’t help but to wish for it to finish loading soon.

But the long wait was definitely worth it. Listening to the mash-up was like listening to a brand new song. It was like a totally brand new sound to me. I like how the music and vocals were blended together. However, I can say that it was Quest that dominated the entire mash-up. And if that was really the case, it was actually a perfect move for Rocksteddy to at least let Quest shine this time around. The two bands have done a really good job for this collaboration.

What do you think of the mash-up? If you haven’t checked it out yet, watch it here:
