Almost everybody knows that GMA 7 now owns the right to air the new Idol show in the Philippines, which will be called “Pinoy Idol”. And today, the network has just started calling the attention of Idol aspirants around the nation.
As shown on TV, audition dates and venues are now being announced and will take place in major areas in the provinces such as Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro and more. You may check out the TV plug for more/specific details. But take note, from what I have heard they are searching for the first Pinoy Idol so I believe the claims that this show will be treated as a new and independent of the first season is true. So this means, Mau Marcelo might not be considered the first winner.
Pinoy Idol, as what it will be called (no longer Philippine Idol), is rumored to be aired on the first quarter or around February of 2008.
As to who will judge and host the show is still a big question left to the viewers. Of course, there are rumors that Ryan Agoncillo and Ryan Cayabyab from the first season will still be part of this show while others say that it can be Mo Twister, Drew Arellano, Paolo Bediones or still Regine Velasques who used to host previous singing competitions of the network.
Aside from Pinoy Idol, GMA 7 holds the airing rights of Fremantle’s shows such as Celebrity Duets, Whammy, and Family Feud. On the other hand, the new season of American Idol will be aired on GMA 7 owned station, QTV Channel 11.
So who you think should be the judges and host of this show?

prankly,, pangit po yung setting eh.. compared to abc 5’s phil. idol
look, maliit ang stage,, masyadong maliwanag ang lights naka isolate ang juries, walang live bands to accompany ung mga singers, di mo masasabing professional sa music ung mga juries: jolina, ogie and wingard, yan ang gma 7’s version
sa abc 5 nmn: malawak ang stage, they are using spotlights para i highlights yung mga nagsasalita, juries are parallel to the audience meaning kung paano nakikita ng audience ung contestants so as they which is very important for the viewer, live band accompanies the singer, and juries are, francis M. pelita corales, and ryan cayabyab who hav high reputation in music industry.
you should have used cinema as your setting as they did. besydes… whosoever win the competition, is no match against mau marcelo… not a bit..

suggestion lng wag nma kayung gumawa ng season 2, let abc 5 do it… please…

kaya lang nag aaral pa ako now as bachelor of music major in music education…gusto ko kasing kumanta ng lupang hinirang sa boxing competition if given an opportunity di na ako mahiya i am from davao and i am now a 3rd year music student sa University og Immaculate Conception.
